This project is a renovation of a 1 1/2 storey post-war home, converting it into a 2 storey modern residence. Within this home a mudroom was designed with a new front entrance, which eliminated clutter from entering the living spaces of the home. The addition of this mudroom was imperative in order to add storage for this active family; it not only provides storage, but it also designed with a wash basin and floor drain for quick and easy clean up. In addition to the mudroom, the kitchen was opened up to maximize available space, which helped to create an open floor plan on the ground floor. The second storey was designed with 3 bedrooms, including a master bedroom which extends out to a private deck above the mudroom. A prominent design feature of this renovation is the two storey curtain wall that appears as a large piece of glass. This design element is in contrast to the fibre cement rain screen that clads most of the house.
