Sited near High Park in downtown Toronto, the existing 2-storey home did not take advantage of the rare, expansive park views the property afforded. The proposed alteration opens the rear of the first and second floor out to the views of the park and allows natural lighting to flood the large floor-plate. The small 1-storey addition accommodates a breakfast nook adjacent to the kitchen and above, a green roof accessible from the second floor den. The green roof brings the rear garden up to the second floor and the addition’s visual impact is minimized as its green cover melts into the tree-top view of the park.
The scope of work also includes expanding and updating the kitchen as well as remodeling the entry to accommodate a coat closet and powder room.
