reviving a fine vintage
Sited on a ravine overlooking High Park in downtown Toronto, this mid-century gem remains true to its Usonian roots. A complete renovation and restoration of this classical modern home infused new life and improved the livability of it for its new inhabitants. New outdoor living spaces were added and the improved connection to the outdoors took advantage of the spectacular site and views.
Though no new floor area was added, a proposed clerestory window strip and partial roof modifications improved the height of the living spaces and washed the interior with even non-direct northern light. The new high operable windows also allowed for passive ventilation during the summer months. A new in-floor radiant heating system offered comfortable, even heat throughout the 2 levels of living space in the winter months.
