reviving a fine vintage
Sited on a ravine overlooking High Park in downtown Toronto, this mid-century gem remains true to its Usonian roots. A complete renovation and restoration of this classic modern home infuses new life and improves the livability for its new inhabitants. New outdoor living space was added and the improved connection to the outdoors takes advantage of the spectacular site and views.
Though no new floor area was added, a proposed clerestory window strip and partial higher roof improves the height of the living spaces and washes the interior with even north light. The new high operable windows also induce passive ventilation during the summer months. A new in-floor radiant heating system provides comfortable, even heat throughout the 2 levels of living space in the winter months.
